متن کاملNon-Local Modelling of Strain Softening in Machining Simulations
Non-local damage model for strain softening in a machining simulation is presented in this paper. The coupled damage-plasticity model consists of a physically based dislocation density model and a damage model driven by plastic straining in combination with the stress state. The predicted chip serration is highly consistent with the measurement results.
متن کاملEffect of Constraint on Ductile Crack Growth and Ductile-Brittle Fracture Transition of a carbon Steel
Ductile-brittle fracture transition was investigated using compact tension (CT) specimens from -70 o C to 40 o C for a carbon steel. Large deformation finite element analysis has been carried out to simulate the stable crack growth in the compact tension (CT, a/W=0.6), three point-point bend (SE(B), a/W=0.1) and centre-cracked tension (M(T), a/W=0.5) specimens. Experimental crack tip opening di...
متن کاملModelling of Crack Growth Using a New Fracture Criteria Based Peridynamics
Peridynamics (PD) is a nonlocal continuum theory based on integro-differential equations without spatial derivatives. The elongation fracture criterion is implicitly incorporated in the PD theory, and fracture is a natural outcome of the simulation. On the other hand, a new fracture criterion based on the crack opening displacement combined with peridynamic (PD-COD) is proposed. When the relati...
متن کاملSimulation of Crack Growth in Ductile Materials
During crack growth of real materials, the total energy released can be partitioned into elastic and dissipative terms. By analyzing material models with mechanisms for dissipating energy and tracking all energy terms during crack growth, it is proposed that computer simulations of fracture can model crack growth by a total energy balance condition. One approach for developing fracture simulati...
